On May 18, 2025, the giant panda pair "Fuwa" and "Fengyi" that had been living in Malaysia arrived at the Ya'an Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Sichuan."Fuwa" and "Fengyi" were both born on August 23, 2006, at the Hetaoping Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. On May 20, 2014, to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, they went to the National Zoo of Malaysia as friendly envoys, starting a 10-year sojourn. According to the transition agreement signed by China and Malaysia in 2024, the cooperation period originally scheduled to expire on May 20, 2024, was extended to May 20, 2025.During their stay in Malaysia, "Fuwa" and "Fengyi" successfully bred and raised three cubs, namely "Nuan Nuan", "Yi Yi", and "Sheng Yi", all of which had returned to China in August 2023.
